f(x)

Then the function:


f(x-a)

Has a graph of the parent function bu translated "a" units. If "a" is positive "a" units to the right and if "a" is negative "a" units to the left.

The parent tangent function is:


f(x)=\tan x

Then transformed function is:


f(x+1)=\tan (x+1)

This means that "a" is:


a=-1

therefore, the graph of the function is the same as the graph of the tangent function but translated 1 unit to the left. This would look like this:
