Percentage increase/decrease is hard at first, but easy when you get it. To work this out, you do: Original number - new number = N N ÷ original number × 100 = percentage. So this would be: 270 - 216 = 54 54 ÷ 270 x 100 = 20% decrease.

216-270 divided by 270= -20%
