Step 1 : Identify the meaning of consecutive numbers

Consecutive Numbers are numbers that follow each other continuously in the order from smallest to largest are called consecutive numbers. For example: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and so on are consecutive numbers.

So as regard this question

Let the first number = n

The second number will be = n+1

The third number will be = n+2

Since the sum of the three consecutive numbers is 51,

therefore we will have that

\begin{gathered} n+n+1+n+2=51 \\ n+n+n+1+2=51 \\ 3n+3=51_{} \\ 3n=51-3_{} \\ 3n=48 \\ n=(48)/(3) \\ n=16 \end{gathered}

if n represents the smallest number ,

Therefore the smallest of the three consecutive numbers=16
