Answer: to spread Jesus's teachings.

The twelve men who accompanied Jesus were the apostles. They were a central figure of Christianity. The apostles were the main followers of Jesus, and also the people responsible for teaching and spreading his message. Although it is generally agreed that the apostles were twelve, different gospels give them different names.

The main role of Jesus' Apostles (the selected men) was to spread his teachings and preach Christianity to everyone.
