The Hellenistic era or Hellenistic period is the period of ancient Greek history between the death of Alexander the Great in 323 BC and the emergence of Roman Empire in 31 BC. In this period, Greek cultural influence was on its peak in Europe, Africa and Asia. Greeks went trough great transformations by getting in contact with other cultures and civilizations. Therefore, they achieved great progress in science, philosophy and art. The Hellenistic era had the most important influence on development of Greek and Roman civilization.
