Which of the following lines from the story is an example of indirect characterization? Question 10 options: "The old lady had not heard him; only Chig had heard." "Tears now traveled down the lines in her face, but when she spoke, her voice was clear." "She smiled. She had all her teeth, but they were too perfect to be her own." "They had been met at the door by Aunt Rose, GL's wife, and ushered into the living room."

I think it has to be C because the sentence say's she had a beautiful smile but the teeth are fake. You can tell this woman is old and has fake dentures. Then again A suggest the woman is so old she is unable to hear things. I leave this up to you. It's between A and C.

Answer:

First option is the correct answer.

Step-by-step explanation:

In this first option, the speaker mentions that the lady "had not heard him", but the other character (very near her, apparently), had heard the other person. It is very important to indicate that the woman is old, because this way, readers could deduce she might be deaf. In the second option, the characterization is pretty clear by indicating the clear voice and the woman's appearence. The third option indicates a smile and the woman's teeth. In the fourth option, just an action is described and the only characteristic Aunt Rose receives is being GL's wife.
