In 1945, The United Nations came into existence, following the destruction caused by the Second World War, with one fundamental purpose: the preservation of global peace and safety.
The UN does this by operating to limit disagreement by creating the conditions to provide agreement to hold and flourish. The UN Security Council has prime accountability for global peace and security. The General Assembly and the Secretary-General have the major, significant, and corresponding positions, along with other UN agencies.
