To figure out the total amount of money he payed for all of the gas, we must firstly convert 100 cups to gallons. We know that one gallon is 16 cups, so all we have to do is divide the 100 cups by 16 to get the amount of gallons he purchased.

100 / 16 = 6.25

So now that we know he purchased 6.25 gallons of gas during the entire drive, we can multiply the 6.25 gallons by the amount of money it costed him per gallon, in this case, was $3.12!

6.25 * 3.12 = 19.50

There you have it. It costed him a total of $19.50 to buy all of the gas he needed for the drive.

Hope this cleared up any confusion, you can PM me or comment on my profile for further questions and help.

There are 16 cups in a gallon. Divide 100 into 16 to get 6.25. You now just multiply 3.12 by 6.25 to get 19.5. Your answer is $19.50.

hope this helps!
