How did martin Luther’s attitude toward good works contradict Erasmus!s philosophy of christ

Luther focus more on faith and the ideas of salvation while Erasmus believed that good deeds should be done for the sake of yourself and the society, not just because of a promise of a salvation. This was not important as much for Luther who focused his studies around the notion of salvation.
