The statement is true because collective behaviors are spontaneous, emotional and born out of mob mentality, while social movements represent an organization of ideals aimed at acomplishing an enduring and specific goal. A social movement is the result of a group of people becoming aware of a problem, looking for solutions, promoting its ideals throughout an extended period of time, and therefore less likely to change their minds about resolving the issue at hand.
