Bernice is likely suffering from Alzheimer's Disease. More than 3 million cases are reported each year. Alzheimer's disease is the denigration of cells and cell connections that eventually destroys a persons memories and other very important memory functions. Confusion and memory loss are the main symptoms. There is currently no cure, but there are management strategies and medications that have been known to temporarily improve some symptoms.
