After football season, a landscaper needs to reseed the field shown in thefigure. A 2 lb bag of seed covers 500 ft?. If the landscaper cannot buy partialbags of seed, determine the number of 2 lb bags of seed the landscapermust buy.

First we need to find the area of the field

we find the area of the rectangle

\begin{gathered} A=l* w \\ A=75*200 \\ A=15000 \end{gathered}

now find the area of the half circle, if we join them is a circle

\begin{gathered} A=\pi* r^2 \\ A=\pi*((75)/(2))^2 \\ \\ A=1406.25\pi \end{gathered}

now sum the areas to find the total area of the field

\begin{gathered} 15000+1406.25\pi \\ \approx19417.86 \end{gathered}

total area is 19417.85 square ft

Now to find the number of 2lb bags

we divide the whole area between the cover of a 2lb bag (500squareft)

(19417.85)/(500)\approx38.83

we need 38.83 bags of seed to cover the field, as we cannot buy partial bags we must buy 39 bags to cover the field
