Spasticity is the type of cerebral palsy. Cerebral palsy is often classified by type of motor dysfunction. The most com-mon type of dysfunction is spasticity, or hypertonia. Spasticity involves a mild to severe exaggerated contraction of muscles when the muscle is stretched. It is present in about 70 to 80 percent of all cases of cerebral palsy and occurs when the area injured is on the surface of the brain or on the nerves leading from the surface to the interior of the brain ( UCPA, 2011). Spasticity can involve the entire body or only some parts of the body.
