Neanderthals were the archaic humans that shared 99.7% of the same DNA with humans and are seen either as a distinct species or a subspecies of Homo Sapiens. They had bigger bodies but also shorter legs and were more solidly built than modern humans. These characteristics are thought to have been developed as an adaptation to a colder environment.
