Explain where to place the decimal point in the product for the expression 0.5 × 0.03

Heres how I would do it...

1. Forget about the zeros for now and multiply 5x3 to get 15
2. Count the total number of places in each number: .5 is one and .03 is two
3. Move the decimal point from behind the 15, 3 places to the left.

Your answer: 0.5x0.03=0.015
