  • Better job opportunities: After the Industrial Revolution, factories began to become more and more common in cities. This expansion of industry gave rise to more wage labor, and many people moved to cities in order to take advantage of it.
  • More educated population: Many intellectuals and scholars moved to cities because this were the places where their art could flourish. Urban centers had more educated people who would be interested in their art and could also contribute to their work.
  • Better connected: People who work in business, industry and trade often moved to cities because these were less isolated. They were more likely to be able to trasport goods, contact other business people and ensure a more steady flow of money than if they were operating from a rural setting.
