Natalie = x
Veronica = 3x
Altogether 4x meaning 4 parts
12 divided by 4 = 3
Natalie got 3 gifts veronica got 9
Another way to work this out is with ratio
1:3 of 12 gifts
1+3 = 4
12 divided by 4 = 3
Each part is 3 gifts
