Three different types of radiation are alpha radiation, beta radiation, and gamma radiation.
• First, alpha radiation transfers more energy in absorbers. Alpha particles are helium nuclei.
,
• Second, beta radiation penetrates more than alpha radiation. Beta particles are fast-moving electrons with a very small mass.
,
• Third, gamma radiation transfers the greatest amount of energy, it's a high-energy electromagnetic wave caused by changes inside the nucleus. They have no mass and no charge. This is why gamma radiation easily penetrates body tissue.
