The ration is 170 adults:150 children, or 170/150We can factor out a 10 from both numbers, which leaves us with
17 adults/15 children.17 and 15 have no other factors, so that's the smallest ratio we can have.

Answer: 170:150 ; 17/15

Explanation:

At the ticket booth at a school play 170 adult tickets and 150 student tickets were sold. To find the ratio of adults to students goes thus:

Number of adults tickets sold= 170

Number of students ticket sold= 150

Ratio of adult to student= 170:150

Writing the answer as a fraction in simplest form will be:

Number of adults tickets sold= 170

Number of students ticket sold= 150

Ratio of adult to student= 170:150

Fraction= 170/150

We divide the numerator and denominator by 10

170÷10 / 160÷10

= 17/15
