The figurative language in this excerpt is a metaphor. It helps us infer that Emily is angry. Its a metaphor because she didn't literally burn out by one fierce moment of fire. This metaphor is to show strong emotion threw strong word choices like fire and fierce, that is most used to show anger. This is not a simile because it does not use like or as.
