Answer:

87.5 \\ miles

Explanation:

Distance traveled in
18\\ gallons of gas
= 315 miles\\

Distance traveled in
1\\ gallon of gas
= 17.5 miles\\

Gas left in the tank as indicated by Bryan's gas gauge

= (1)/(4) * 20\\= 5\\ gallons

Distance traveled in remaining
5\\ gallons of gas

= 5 * 17.5\\= 87.5 \\ miles

1) Find the unit rate
315÷18=17.5
2) See how many miles he can go on a full tank of gas
17.5×20=350
3) Find how much gas total is in the tank

(20)/(4) =5 gallons
4) Find how many miles he has left before his tank is empty
17.5×5=87.5

He has 87.5 miles left to go before he runs out of gas.
