The distance between two point (x1,y1) and (x2,y2) is given by


d=\sqrt[]{(x_1-x_2)^2+(y_1-y_2)^2}

Here the points are (-2,1) and (3,1).

Hence distances between them is


\begin{gathered} d=\sqrt[]{(-2-3)^2+(1-1)^2} \\ d=\sqrt[]{(-5)^2} \\ d=\sqrt[]{5^2} \\ d=5\text{ unit} \end{gathered}
