looking at the two triangles, the smaller triangle was reduced by a factor of 3.

the value of the missing side can be gotten by multiplying the corresponding side in the smaller triangle by 3


\begin{gathered} 4*3=x \\ x=12 \end{gathered}

the value of the missing side is 12
