I don't understand. if the great plains were part of the Louisiana purchase, how come Louisiana land is fertile and full of forests while the great plains are dry and lack water???? please help

The U.S. made this purchase because France owned this land. And they were a young nation so they bought the land so they could be safe. Also, the east coast wasn't enough for the people. The land may have been dry but people adapted
