The given equation is

\begin{gathered} 9x-14-2x+2=51 \\ \end{gathered}

First, we reduce like terms, 9x and -2x are like terms, -14 and 2 are like terms.

\begin{gathered} 9x-2x-14+2=51 \\ 7x-12=51 \end{gathered}

Now, we add 12 on each side.

\begin{gathered} 7x-12+12=51+12 \\ 7x=63 \end{gathered}

At last, we divide the equation by 7.

\begin{gathered} (7x)/(7)=(63)/(7) \\ x=9 \end{gathered}

Therefore, the solution is 9.
