The rise refers to the change in the y axis

The run refers to the change in the x axis

rise = y2 - y1

run = x2 - x1

From the graph,

when x = 0, y = 1. thus, x1 = 0 and y1 = 1

when x = 0, y = 1. thus, x1 = 0 and y1 = 1

when x = 1, y = 3. thus, x2 = 1 and y2 = 3

Slope, m = (3 - 1)/(1 - 0)

m = 2/1

m = 2
