A parent has pieces of candy to divide up equally among children. Since she cannot break the candy very easily, she decides she's going to hide a few pieces of candy to ensure that each child gets the same amount, but that she will hide as few as possible. How many pieces of candy does each child get and how many pieces are hidden?

hello

to solve this question, we should understand that 23 is not divisible by 4. Howver, we can find a way around this. The last number that 4 can divide without any reminder is 20

so that means we have 23 - 20

23-20=3

this means 3 candies were hidden from the children.

now let's find the number of candy each child got

to get this, simply divide 20 by 4

(20)/(4)=5

each child got 5 pieces candy and 3 candies was hidden from them.

the answer to this question is option B
