Please express exponentiation with the " ^ " symbol:

m^2 + 12m + 35

To factor this, look at the constant term and list possible pairs of factors:
1, 35
5, 7

Note that 5 + 7 = 12, which matches your middle term (12m).

5 and 7 are roots (not factors) of m^2 + 12m + 35. The corresponding factors are then (m+5) and (m+7). If you multiply these two factors together, the final result will be m^2 + 12m + 35.

You need to find 2 numbers x and y that solve the equations:

x * y = 35

x + y = 12

it looks like x = 5 and y = 7 will work
