Hey there!

Let x = percent increase Set an equation to show percent increase. 80 + 80x = 152 Subtract 80 on both sides of equation. 80x = 72 Divide both sides of the equation by 80. x = 0.9 Multiply this number by 100 to get the actual value of percent. x = 0.9 * 100x = 90 The percent increase is 90%

Hope this helps!

If 80 pencils are 100%, 152 pencils are X percent, so proportion would go:
80pencils : 100%=152pencils : X%
now those numbers nearest to = (100% and 152) multiply and then are divided by 80 which is farthest from =
X%= (152×100)/80 =190%
X=190%-100%=90%
