y=x²
y=x²-4 translating the parabola 4 units down
y=(x-2)²-4 translating the parabola 2 units right
3y=(x-2)²-4 translating parabola expanding it vertically by a factor of 3
(1/3)3y=1/3 (x-2)²-4
y=1/3 (x-2)²-4
a=1/3; p=2; q=-4
