A candy distributor needs to mix a 10% fat content chocolate with a 50% fat content chocolate to create 100 kilograms of a 38% fat content chocolate. how many kilograms of each kind of chocolate must they use?

Let x be the number of kilograms of 10% fat content chocolate and y be the number of kilograms of 50%, then we can set the following system of equations:


\begin{gathered} x+y=100, \\ 0.1x+0.5y=100\cdot0.38=38. \end{gathered}

Solving the first equation for x we get:


x=100-y\text{.}

Substituting x=100-y in the second equation and solving for y we get:
