Osteocyte is star shaped bone cell and is commonly found in mature bone tissue. osteocytes and their processes reside inside spaces called lacunae, osteoblasts become trapped in the matrix that they secrete, they become osteocytes. Osteocyte shape Is dependent on Actin Filaments and actin filaments are crucial for the maintenance of osteocyte shape. Further more two actin-bundling proteins, alpha-actinin and fimbrin are involved in osteocyte processes
