0.5(x + 60) + 0.3x = 46

Simplify.

0.5x + 30 + 0.3x = 46

Then, subtract 30 from both sides.

0.5x + 0.3x = 46 - 30

Simplify.

0.8x = 16

Now, turn 0.8x into a fraction to make things look easier.

0.8x → 8/10x → 4/5x :)

So, remove 0.8x from our equation & put 4/5x into it's place.

4/5x = 16

Multiply both sides by 5.

4/5x · 5 = 16 · 5

Simplify.

4x = 80

Now, divide both sides by 4.

4x ÷ 4 = 80 ÷ 4

Simplify.

x = 20

Keep in kind that you would've been able to just multiply everything by 5/4, but we kept things a little bit more simple :)

~Hope I helped!~
