The municipal swimming pool in Charlotte, North Carolina has three different ways of paying for individual open swimming. Nick is trying to decide which way to pay.Early Pay: Pay $65.00 before Memorial Day; swim any number of daysDeposit Plus: $20.00 deposit plus $3.00 per dayDaily Pay: $6.00 per dayIf Nick goes swimming 6 times what would he need to pay with each payment plan? If he goes swimming 12 times, what would he need to pay with each payment plan? If he goes swimming 18 times, what would he need to pay with each payment plan? Part 2: Nick’s youth group has 25 regular students that attend weekly get togethers. They saved up enough money for each person to go swimming 15 times each with the daily pay plan. After they saved that amount, they found out they can use the early pay plan and save money. They plan to donate their savings to the church since it’s in need of a new sound system. How much money will they be able to donate with the savings from all 25 youth?

First, write the equations for each plan:

Early pay =

Y= 65

Deposit plus :

y= 20 + 3x

Daily pay

y= 6x

where:

y= total cost

x= number of days

For each space on the table, replace x in the corresponding equation:

If nick goes swimming 6 times:

Early pay: $65

Deposit pay : 20 + 3x = 20 + 3(6) = 20 + 18 = $38

Daily pay = 6x = 6(6)= $36

12 times:

Early pay: $65

Deposit pay : 20 + 3x = 20 + 3(12) = 20 + 36= $56

Daily pay = 6x = 6(12)= $72

18 times:

Early pay: $65

Deposit pay : 20 + 3x = 20 + 3(18) = 20 + 54 = $74

Daily pay = 6x = 6(18)= $108

Part 2:

25 regular students

go swimming 15 times

Daily pay plan: 6(x) = 6 (15) = $90 each

$90 x 25 students = $2,250 (total money saved)

Early pay = 65 each = 65 x 25 = $1,625

Amount saved to donate: 2250 - 1625 = $625
