Let the cost of one ticket be D at day one. If the drama club sold 100 tickets in day one. On the other hand, let the cost of one ticket be E at day two. Total profit= Number of tickets sold times cost of one ticket on day one plus Number of tickets sold times cost of ticket at day two. Cost of ticket is "D" and "E" as stated earlier. Total profit is 700 + 300 = 1000. So we have 1000 = 100D + 200E. In terms of each we have 200E =1000 - 100D and 100D = 1000 -200E. But then cost of each ticket is 100D = 300 which makes $3 and 200E = 700 which gives 3.5.
