2. Simplify the following problem using the distributive property: 2x+3y+2(x-y)-3x . Show each step in your calculation. Justify each of your steps using number properties.

First use the distributive property to distribute the 2

2x+3y+2x-2y-3x

Next combine like terms (combine the x’s with the x’s, and the y’s with the y’s)

-x+y is your answer

Multiply everything in the parenthesis by 2.

2x + 3y + 2x - 2y - 3x

Combine like terms.

x + y
