When magnesium reacts with chlorine, magnesium ions (mg 2 ) and chloride ions (cl−) are formed. in this reaction, magnesium atoms?

I am guessing the reaction is 2 MgCl2 --> Mg2 + Cl 4
There are 2 mols of MgCl in the products, so...
2 mols* 6.022x10^23/1 mol = 1.2044 x 10^24 atoms of magnesium
