A Simple Sentence-

a) Must contain a dependent clause

b) Can contain a compound subject and/or a compound verb

c) Should not have more than one verb or subject

d) Should not be long or detailed.

A verb can show-

a) Reality

b) Details about the subject

c) Action or being

d) What the sentence is about

A Compound Sentence-


a) Has a Dependent Clause and an Independent Clause joined by a comma & FANBOYS

b) Has two Independent Clauses and a Dependent Clause joined by a semi-colon

c) Has at least two Independent Clauses joined by a comma & FANBOYS, or a semi-colon

d) Has a Simple Sentence and a Dependent Clause

1.) A simple sentence should not have more than one verb or subject.

Joe waited for the train.
"Joe" = subject, "waited" = verb

2.) A verb can show action or being.

Joe ran towards the bus stop.
"ran" = verb

3.)
A Compound Sentence Has at least two Independent Clauses joined by a comma & FANBOYS, or a semi-colon
