2x³ + x² - 5x + 2
(2x³ + 3x - 2)(x - 1)
(2x³ + 4x - x - 2)(x - 1)
(2x(x + 2) - (x + 2))(x - 1)
(x + 2)(2x - 1)(x - 1)
so x + 2 is not a factor of the polynomial!
hope this helped, God bless!
