Explain how does air resistance affect acceleration and speed of an object?

I don't know the correct vocabulary but...The air depending on the variables of the speed of the object and the variables of wind speed, and what the object is, can affect the speed by slowing it down or speeding it up.

Need to ask more specific question for a more specific answer.

Air resistance acts as a friction force which limits the acceleration of an object travelling through the air. Regardless of whether this acceleration is negative (an object falling due to gravity) or positive (a projectile launched upward), air resistance will act as a dragging force on this acceleration, making it a smaller number than it would otherwise be. For this reason, when calculating ballistics problems, we usually neglect air resistance to keep the problem more simple.
