-(3)/(5)x+7=x-1

Solve for x:

Multiply both sides by 5:

\begin{gathered} 5\cdot(-(3)/(5)x+7)=5\cdot(x-1) \\ -3x+35=5x-5 \end{gathered}

Add 3x to both sides:

\begin{gathered} -3x+35+3x=5x-5+3x \\ 35=8x-5 \end{gathered}

Add 5 to both sides:

\begin{gathered} 35+5=8x-5+5 \\ 40=8x \end{gathered}

Divide both sides by 8:

\begin{gathered} (40)/(8)=(8x)/(8) \\ 5=x \\ x=5 \end{gathered}

Answer:

x = 5
