Given the inequality expression;

- 3( x - 4) < - 12

you are to evalauate the value of x in the expression;

Step 1: Open the parenthesis

- 3( x - 4) < - 12

-3x+12 < - 12

Step 2: Subtract 12 from both sides;

-3x+12-12 < -12-12

-3x < -24

Step 3: Divide both sides by -3;

-3x/-3 < -24/-3

x > 8 (note the reverse in the inequality sign. This is because I divided both sided of the ineequality by a negative value)

The solution is x> 8
