The court said that the Cherokee Nation didn't have original jurisdiction because the tribe was not a state. Regardless of their claim in Cherokee Nation Vs Georgia, the US Supreme Court made the Cherokee Nation tribe a denominated domestic dependent nation.

There were two cases that determined.

1) "The Cherokee Nation v. The State of Georgia", which stated that the Supreme Court cannot hear a suit brought by the Cherokee Nation, as it is not a foreign country.

2) "Worcester v. Georgia", which states that "states" have no criminal jurisdiction in Indian country.
