According to the Iroquois Constitution, a great leader should look after the welfare of present and future generations.
The Iroquois Constitution states that all Confederate Lords, that is to say all the leaders, should leave aside their interests in order to focus on the interests and welfare of the people that have recognized them as leaders. In that way, a good leader should look after his people and listen to their concerns. By the word 'people', they do not only refer to the present generation, but also to the ones that will come in the future: the 'unborn of the future generation'.
