This question is kind of tricky. To make sure, she has to sail 4 2/3 miles but she sailed 3 1/3, how far is she from her destination? Is that what you are saying? If that's what you are saying, then you have to convert both mixed fractions to improper fractions. 4 2/3 will convert to 14/3 (you multiply the whole number times the denominator (the bottom number of the fraction) plus the numerator (the number on the top)) and for 3 1/3 is going to be equal to 10/3. Now that you have both numbers in improper fractions, you can subtract. So 14/3-10/3 is going to give you an equal of 4/3, which would be 1 1/3 in a mixed fraction. YOU'RE WELCOME :D

subtract the distance she traveled from the total distance she has to go

4 2/3 - 3 1/3 = 1 1/3 miles to go
