It is known as the Sapir-Whorf hypothesis. Sapir-Whorf hypothesis has an interesting history of how it got the name, as two people contributed towards the hypothesis. In 1929 Edward Sapir originally presented the hypothesis and later Benjamin Whorf developed it (Sapir-Whorf). This is a hypothesis that the pattern of a language regulates the native speaker’s opinion of an experience.
