V - E + F = 2

V = Vertices

F = Face

E = Edges

For an octahedron, with 8 faces, the number of vertices is 6, and 12 edges

For an icosahedron, with 30 edges, the number ot vertices is 12

20 faces, 30 edges and 12 vertices
