In order to see if a function increases or decreases we have to follow the value of g(x) along the x-axis from left to right. By doing so you can see that the value of g(x) decreases until a certain x value. Here the function reaches a minimum and then it begins to increase as x increases. This minimum is located approximately at (1/2,6) which means that for all x<1/2 the function decreases and for x>1/2 the function increases. From the three intervals given by the question the only one that meets the condition x>1/2 is the third one. So g(x) increases in 2the answer is option C.
