First multiply the total amount of pizzas sold by the amount of slices in each pizza. ( It would also help if you converted the fraction into a decimal; 1/2=.5 )
38.5 * 8 = 308
A total of 308 slices of pizza were sold.

308 slices would be sold.
38*8= 304, plus 4 slices in half a pizza makes 308 slices.
