3(y-2)=18
3y-6=18
3y-6+6=18+6( Since 6 is negative and we want to get rid of 6 so we do +6-6 3y=24 which is 0 to get rid of -6 and add +6 to 18 to other side.)

I hope it may help you
thank you.

Greetings!

3(y-2)=18
Distribute the Parenthesis (3*y+3*-2).
3y-6=18
To Isolate the variable, we have to add/subtract any unlike terms.
3y=24

To solve for y.

3y=24
Divide both sides by 3.

(3y)/3=(24)/3
The Answer Is:

y=8

Hope this helps.
